Nissan recalls 2 million vehicles worldwide

Nissan is recalling 2.14 million vehicles worldwide including the popular March and Mycra subcompacts for an ignition problem that may stall the engine — its third-largest recall ever.

BMW to recall 150,000 vehicles in U.S.

BMW AG said Tuesday that it would recall more than 150,000 vehicles in the United States due to the possibility of fuel pump failures.

BMW said some 130,000 of its 2007 to 2010 model year vehicles equipped with twin-turbo six-cylinder engines would be recalled for software updates and a potential replacement of a high-pressure fuel pump. Get the full story »

40,000 drop-side cribs recalled

By Kristin Samuelson | The  Consumer Product Safety Commission and three U.S. cribmakers on Friday announced voluntary recalls of approximately 40,650 drop-side cribs after receiving reports of six child injuries from the cribs.

Honda joins Toyota in recall over brakes

Two major Japanese automakers — Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co.  –  said Thursday that they were recalling millions of vehicles to fix brakes that could leak fluids and hamper stopping power.

Toyota is calling back and repairing free 1.53 million Avalon, Highlander and Lexus vehicles. Honda said it was recalling an undetermined number of Acura sedans and Odyssey minivans. Get the full story »

U.S. nudges Ford owners to get recalled vehicles fixed

The U.S. government is urging owners of recalled Ford Motor Co. vehicles linked to engine fires to  get them fixed.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says about 17.5 million Ford vehicles have been  recalled since 1999 over faulty cruise control switches. The switches can overheat and lead to a fire. Get the full story »

Deaths prompt recall of 2 million strollers

Baby gear maker Graco is recalling about 2 million strollers after receiving reports that four infants died in the strollers. The strollers being recalled are older versions of the Graco Quattro Tour and MetroLite strollers and travel systems, all made before 2007.

Mother sues Abbott over beetles in Similac formula

An Illinois mother is requesting class-action status in a lawsuit she filed against Abbott Laboratories Inc. over the recall of millions of containers of its top-selling Similac powered infant formula, which she claims, sickened her child and thousands of other children.

Abbott recalled the products on Sept. 22, following two reports from consumers stating they had found beetles or larvae in the formula. The insects and larvae were also found during an inspection at the Sturgis plant in Michigan, where the products are made. Get the full story »

GM recalls Chevy Impalas on seat belt issue

General Motors is recalling 322,409 model year 2009 and 2010 Chevrolet Impala sedans because front seat belts may not be properly anchored, the automaker and federal regulators said on Friday. Get the full story »

Pfizer recalls musty-smelling Lipitor

Pfizer Inc. said it recalled 191,000 bottles of its top-selling Lipitor cholesterol fighter after reports of a musty odor coming from some bottles of the medicine made by a third-party supplier.

The world’s largest drugmaker said the recall, which took place in mid-August, involved seven lots of 40-milligram Lipitor, as well as three other lots of the medicine supplied to a Canadian generic drugmaker. Five of the seven recalled lots of the branded medicine were in the U.S., with two from Canada, Pfizer said. Get the full story »

Cadillac recalls 4,000 2010 SRX crossovers

Cadillac is recalling 3,996 2010 SRX crossovers for a possible damage to the power steering line.

If the line is damaged, power steering fluid could leak and cause a fire if it comes into contact with hot engine parts.

GM has had one report of such a fire but no reports of related crashes or injuries.

Abbott recall: No sign of bug problems last winter

Federal inspectors who were at a Michigan infant-formula plant last winter discovered no significant problems, months before the company found beetles near the production line. North Chicago, Ill.-based Abbott Laboratories recently recalled several brands of Similac formula, although the company said the possibility of bug parts in the products was remote.

Allstate sues Toyota over acceleration claims

Allstate Corp. has sued Toyota Motor Corp. over sudden-acceleration-related claims it has paid, alleging that the accidents were caused by vehicle defects.

Tesla recalls 400 Roadsters over fire risk

Tesla Motors is  recalling more than 400 of its battery-powered Roadsters because of the risk that a power cable in the vehicle could short and catch fire.

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Tesla said it had received one report of a  12-volt cable in the vehicle chafing against a panel, causing the cable to short. Get the full story »
