‘Happy Days’ actors sue CBS alleging fraud

“Happy Days,“ one of the most popular shows in television history, faces an unhappy legacy nearly four decades after it first went on the air.

The show, which originally aired from 1974 to 1984, “represented to the public what the best of America has to offer,“ said Anson Williams, who played Potsie. “The friendships, the opportunities, the warmth. Katie Couric is leaving her anchor post at “CBS Evening News” less than five years after becoming the first woman to solely helm a network TV evening newscast.

A network executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity because Couric has not officially announced her plans, reported the move to the Associated Press on Sunday night. The 54-year-old anchor is expected to launch a syndicated talk show in 2012 and several companies are vying for her services. Get the full story »

By Phil Rosenthal | Todd Ricketts apparently got himself fired from a Chicago Cubs maintenance job when he attempted to secretly work for the ballclub his family owns for the CBS show “Undercover Boss.”

CBS, which announced Monday that it plans to air the Ricketts episode Nov. 7, said he fights for the chance to redeem himself after getting canned on his second day on the job.

Disney, NBC latest to block shows from Google TV

Three of the biggest U.S. television broadcasters have blocked their shows from Google Inc.’s new Web TV service, throwing a wrench into the company’s plans to expand from computers to the living room.

Spokespeople from Walt Disney Co. and NBC Universal confirmed Thursday that they blocked access to its broadcast TV shows from Google TV. Disney owns network and cable TV businesses ABC and ESPN. Get the full story »

Apple in talks with media giants to rent TV shows

Apple is in talks with several media conglomerates to allow consumers to rent TV shows through iTunes according to a report in Bloomberg Tuesday, which cited three unnamed sources familiar with the situation.

Apple is in serious discussions with News Corp. to allow viewers to rent programming from its Fox network for 48 hours, the report said, adding that Walt Disney and CBS are in talks with Apple as well.

Comcast says ABC, CBS, FOX cool with NBC deal

Comcast has told the Federal Communications Commission that it has reached deals with TV stations owned by ABC, CBS and Fox to allay their fears that they will be at a disadvantage if the nation’s biggest cable operator completes its purchase of  NBC.
