Boeing engineer gets 15 years in shuttle espionage
Associated Press | A Chinese-born engineer convicted in the United States’ first economic
espionage trial was sentenced Monday to more than 15 years in prison
for stealing sensitive information on the U.S. space program with the
intent of passing it to China.
Dongfan “Greg” Chung, a Boeing stress analyst with high-level security
clearance, was convicted in July of six counts of economic espionage
and other federal charges for storing 300,000 pages of sensitive papers
in his Southern California home. Prosecutors alleged the papers
included information about the U.S. space shuttle, a booster rocket and
military troop transports.

post at the Chicago-based airline, effective immediately.
JAL to keep partnership with American
By Julie Johnsson | Japan Airlines has decided to keep its alliance
with long-time partner American Airlines and to turn down a competing
offering from Delta Air Lines, according to reports in the Japanese
media.
Chicago stood to lose service to Japan and Asia had JAL defected to
Delta, as experts until last week thought likely. Japan’s flag carrier
likely would have moved its daily non-stop flight from Tokyo’s Narita
Airport to a Delta hub.
Boeing gets incentives for South Carolina 787 plant
From The State in South Carolina | Boeing Co. has reached an agreement with the state of South Carolina on an incentives package for a $750 million Dreamliner plant in North Charleston. Boeing agree to employ 6,000 workers by 2016.

Boeing gets 10 orders in January
Associated Press | Boeing Co. reports 10 new aircraft orders for January, all of them for Ethiopian Airlines.
The Chicago-based aircraft maker says the order for its 737-800 planes came in on Jan. 12. About two weeks after the order came in, that airline lost the same type of aircraft in a crash off the coast of Lebanon.
United Airlines sues Chicago in O’Hare incident

FAA proposes fine against AAR’s American Eagle
Associated Press | Federal regulators are proposing a penalty of nearly $2.5 million against AMR Corp.’s American Eagle, a sister carrier of American Airlines, for not making sure crews had accurate information about the weight of baggage on dozens of flights.
Incorrect takeoff weights are considered a safety hazard if pilots rely on faulty information when determining the right speed for takeoff and landing.
United Airlines frequent flier miles for one-way trips

Plus frequent flyers can now book one-way flight awards or use a
combination of miles and money for a roundtrip flight, hotel stay, or
car rental.
“Our new One-Way Awards and Miles & Money Awards give our members
the flexibility to use their miles, and fewer of them, by providing
more options to book the type of travel they want,” said Robert
Sahadevan, vice president of Mileage Plus.
