Quad/Graphics Inc., which became the nation’s second-largest commercial printer through an acquisition last year, on Tuesday announced the closure of its facility in Mount Morris, Ill.
The Mount Morris plant encompasses approximately 644,000 square feet and employs about 230 people. Customer work will be consolidated at other facilities. Get the full story »
Gov. Pat Quinn says the American Aluminum Extrusion Co., an aluminum extruder and fabricator based in Beloit, Wis., is investing $7.5 million to open a plant in the Winnebago County town of Roscoe. Quinn says the plant is expected to employ 130 people. Get the full story »

The Obama administration is taking $1.2 billion in high-speed rail money away from Ohio and Wisconsin and awarding it to other states, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said Thursday.
Both Ohio and Wisconsin have elected incoming Republican governors who oppose the rail projects. So LaHood said he is awarding their money to rail projects in states that are eager to have it.
High-speed trains will not only improve transportation but reinvigorate manufacturing and put people back to work in jobs that pay well, LaHood predicted in a statement. Get the full story »
A war of words is heating up between Wisconsin Gov.-elect Scott Walker and Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn over job creation. The Republican Walker said Thursday he plans to persuade Illinois companies to come to Wisconsin. He says he’ll emphasize that Quinn has proposed massive tax increases.
Walker’s comments come one day after the Democratic Quinn encouraged train maker Talgo Inc. to move south from Milwaukee. Talgo had said it would move from that facility if Wisconsin follows through on its promise to abandon high-speed rail. Get the full story »
