U.S. CEOs’ view of economy at 4-year high
U.S. chief executives’ view of the economy reached a four-year high in the second quarter, with more planning to add jobs over the next six months, according to a Business Roundtable survey. Some 39 percent of corporate chiefs expect to increase their companies’ U.S. head count over the rest of this year, more than the 17 percent who plan to cut it, the survey released Wednesday found. By Wailin Wong | Motorola Inc. has sweetened the terms of the employment agreement for
co-Chief Executive Greg Brown, increasing the value of stock awards he
will receive when the company completes its planned separation into two
independent businesses.
Motorola has targeted the first quarter
of 2011 for the split, with Brown leading the enterprise mobility and
networks business, which makes network infrastructure, as well as
communications gear for public safety agencies and businesses. Co-CEO
Sanjay Jha will lead the other company, comprising mobile phones and
cable television set-top boxes.

By Wailin Wong | McDonald’s Corp. marketing chief Mary Dillon is leaving the fast food giant to take the top job at U.S. Cellular Corp., replacing John “Jack” Rooney as chief executive of the country’s sixth-largest wireless carrier.
Dillon, 48, will start her new role as president and CEO on June 1. She also will join Chicago-based U.S. Cellular’s board.
Playboy CEO Flanders gets $3.25M in 2009
Tribune staff report | Playboy Enterprises Chief Executive Scott Flanders earned $3.25 million in his first year on job, according to the Chicago-based media company’s proxy materials filed today.
Flanders, who was appointed in June 2009, earned a salary of $430,769 and a bonus of $400,000. He was awarded $406,500 in Playboy stock and more than $2 million in stock options. He was also compensated $732 for protection services, the company said.
