Boeing takes 58 commercial orders, loses 8
Boeing Co. said Thursday it took 58 new orders for commercial planes in the week that ended March 9, but reduced the number of 787 orders by eight.
The company on its website said it took orders for four 767s from the U.S. Air Force. Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd ordered 10 777s. American International Group’s International Lease Finance Corp ordered 33 737s. Get the full story »
Boeing starts 787 changes to meet certification goal
Boeing Co. said on Monday it began incorporating required changes to its long-delayed 787 Dreamliner to move the program toward certification this year by aviation authorities.
The work, to be done in San Antonio, Texas, includes installing electronic and mechanical equipment, software upgrades and testing systems.

Aircraft manufacturer Boeing Co.’s delays in readying its new 787 Dreamliner jumbo jet for delivery have been giving competitors an advantage, an executive for rival Airbus said Thursday.

Boeing: Still no timetable for more 787 flights
Boeing Co. said Tuesday that it is still investigating last week’s electrical fire that forced an emergency landing of one of its 787 Dreamliner test planes and it has not yet decided when flight tests will resume.
The aviation industry is awaiting word on whether the fire will trigger another delay for first delivery of the light-weight, carbon-composite Dreamliner, which is still in development and nearly three years behind schedule.

Boeing denies report of new Dreamliner delay
Boeing Co. on Friday said it still plans to deliver its first long-delayed 787 Dreamliner in the first quarter of 2011.
The statement followed a report in Aviation Week, citing people familiar with the situation, saying the world’s second-largest plane maker has told some customers they could face delays of as much as 10 months.

FAA puts 10 miles between 787, trailing planes on landing
The Federal Aviation Administration has issued an interim requirement that planes landing after either of Boeing’s two new airplanes, the 787 Dreamliner and the 747-8 jumbo jet, stay at least 10 miles behind.

FAA says Boeing can start training 787 pilots
Boeing Co. said Monday it’s been given approval by the Federal Aviation Administration to start pilot training courses for its new 787.
The Chicago company called the approval a “significant milestone” as it ramps up to start flight training.
