Twitter has fixed a security flaw on its popular social media website after a cyber attack earlier on Tuesday sent some users to Japanese porn websites.

Premiums for Medicare Advantage drop 1%
Seniors enrolled in popular private health insurance plans through Medicare will pay a little less on average next year, the Obama administration said Tuesday.
The average monthly premium in so-called Medicare Advantage plans will dip to $35.69 in 2011, a 45-cent reduction from $36.14 this year, Medicare officials said.

Firm says modified salmon should get same label
A company that has engineered salmon to grow twice as fast as the conventional variety says its food should not be labeled any differently in the grocery store if it is approved by the U.S. government.

Unemployment rises in 27 states; falls in Illinois
More than half of U.S. states saw their unemployment rates rise in August, the largest number in six months, as hiring weakened across the country. The jobless rate in Illinois, however, fell 0.2 percentage points to 10.1 percent last month.

Exelon plant shutdown won’t affect customers
Exelon Corp. shut down a nuclear power plant in Braidwood, Ill. about 60 miles southwest of Chicago Monday evening when the unit’s “turbine tripped offline,” the company said today.

Abbott to cut 3,000 jobs globally, none in Lake Co.
Drug and medical product giant Abbott Laboratories said this morning it would cut about 3,000 jobs worldwide. But there will be no reductions in Lake County, home to the company’s sprawling Abbott Park headquarters.
The cuts, which amount to about 3 percent of its global workforce, come in the wake of its acquisition earlier this year of Solvay SA’s drug business.
