Boeing received banned U.S. subsidies: WTO

Boeing Co. benefited from $5.3 billion in prohibited state and federal government subsidies, a panel of World Trade Organization judges determined in a report issued Thursday.

But the total amount that will need to be remedied by the U.S. in the trade case is about half that: $2.7 billion, since the U.S. government has already stopped providing Chicago-based Boeing billions of dollars in export-related tax breaks judged to be illegal by the WTO, U.S. officials said. Boeing’s biggest-ever plane makes maiden flight

Boeing Co.’s newest 747 passenger jet, the largest commercial plane it has ever built, took to the skies for the first time Sunday, marking the third maiden flight of a new Boeing commercial airplane in the past 15 months. (See video)

Painted in its orange and red “sunrise” livery, the massive, four-engine 747-8 Intercontinental lifted off from Paine Field, north of Seattle, at 10 a.m. local time under partly cloudy skies and gusty northerly winds. Boeing CEO sees 2010 compensation rise

Boeing Chief Executive James McNerney’s compensation was valued at $19.7 million in 2010, up 1.5 percent from the previous year, as Boeing saw a rebound in commercial airplane orders, Boeing said in its proxy filing Friday.

The figure includes McNerney’s salary, bonuses, stock and options award and changes to his pension. McNerney’s annual bonus amounted to $4.4 million. Get the full story »

Boeing: Too soon to tell quake’s effect on 787

If Boeing Co.’s Japanese suppliers for the 787 Dreamliner are disrupted by more than several weeks, the company could face new production issues for the long-delayed aircraft, the head of Boeing Commercial Airplanes said Monday.

“We have a little bit of stock, but not much. I think if we go longer than several weeks, we’ll have issues,” Jim Albaugh told CNBC business television. Get the full story »

Boeing says Dreamliner still on for 3Q delivery

Boeing Co. is on track to deliver the long-delayed 787 Dreamliner to its first customer in the third quarter, the head of the 787 program said Friday.

Boeing takes 58 commercial orders, loses 8

Boeing Co. said Thursday it took 58 new orders for commercial planes in the week that ended March 9, but reduced the number of 787 orders by eight.

The company on its website said it took orders for four 767s from the U.S. Air Force. Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd ordered 10 777s. American International Group’s International Lease Finance Corp ordered 33 737s. Get the full story »
