Kevin Willer, co-founder of Google’s Chicago office, has been named chief executive officer of the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center, an affiliate of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.

Willer, who helped build up Google’s office here to 400 employees, also serves on Mayor Richard Daley’s Council of Technology Advisers, among other civic positions.

“There is an entrepreneurial renaissance emerging in Chicago,” James J. O’Connor, the center’s chairman, said in a statement. “Who better to put enterpreneurism into hyper-drive in Chicago than one of Google’s original members.”

The center helps entrepreneurs raise financing and build revenues.
