Redbox is hoping more people will grab a movie at the convenience store, along with that lottery ticket.
The dollar-a-night movie rental kiosks are expanding into EZ Mart Stores, Inc., Fastrac Markets, Murphy Express and VPS Convenience Store Group, thanks to a deal signed this week that will add locations in the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest.
Redbox, headquartered in Oakbrook Terrace, arrived in its first convenience store in 2006. The Coinstar-owned company has since expanded into 52 different convenience store brands, including 7-Eleven, Circle K, Pantry, Exxon Mobil, Kum & Go and Stripes.
The kiosks are available at 24,000 locations nationwide.
Kum & Go convenience store? Sounds like a “wham, bam, thanky ma’am” kind of establishment!
