ITT Corp. has settled its patent dispute with Motorola Inc., after claiming the mobile-phone maker incorporated global positioning systems in its devices that infringed ITT rights. The manufacturing conglomerate said it was pleased with the outcome, although details of the settlement weren’t disclosed except to specify that it resolved all issues between the two over the claim.
ITT still has a number of other claims ongoing against other companies. It had settled its dispute with Nokia Corp. in March.
Last year, ITT filed a lawsuit against Verizon Wireless — a joint venture of Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone Group PLC — as well as Nokia and Motorola. It also listed LG Electronics Inc., Qualcomm Inc. and Kyocera Corp. as defendants.
ITT claimed phones made or sold by those companies had been adapted for assisted GPS technology, which can locate a phone user’s location.
ITT shares were recently down 2.7 percent at $45.81 in the midst of a broad decline in stocks. ITT’s shares are down 7.7 percent so far this year, outpacing the wider market. Motorola stock was down 2.7 percent Friday at $7.51.
