Boeing announced its second acquisition in as many weeks, saying it will buy anti-cyber attack software company Narus.
Narus will be a wholly owned subsidiary operating in the Network & Space Systems unit of Boeing’s defense business. Narus also will develop smart grid energy projects, as well as help protect Boeing’s in-house computer network, it said.
Privately held Narus is based in Sunnyvale, Calif., and employs about 150 people. Terms were not disclosed Wednesday. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter.
Last week, Boeing said it would buy combat engineering firm Argon ST for about $775 million of Fairfax, Va. The company makes systems used in surveillance and combat, including reconnaissance equipment mounted on planes, sensors meant to warn of an approaching enemy and sights to help troops locate snipers.
Shares of Chicago’s Boeing Co. rose $1.10, to $64.40, midday Thursday.
