Motorola Inc. has hired a new senior vice president of human resources for its mobile devices and home business, which is scheduled to be separated from the rest of the company in the first quarter of 2011.
Scott Crum will take up his new position on July 19, the company said in a press release. Motorola co-Chief Executive Sanjay Jha, who heads the mobile devices business, has been building his team in advance of the planned split. Last week, the company announced it had hired a corporate vice president of strategy for mobile devices and home.
Crum is already familiar with Motorola, as he was head of human resources for General Instrument Corp. at the time of its acquisition by Motorola in 2000. General Instrument’s television set-top boxes formed the basis for Motorola’s home business, which still has much of its activity in Horsham, Pennsylvania, where the acquired company had its headquarters.
Crum was most recently senior vice president and director of human resources at ITT Corp., a White Plains, N.Y.-based engineering and manufacturing company.
