Associated Press | Thailand’s government said Wednesday parts of
Bangkok were still not under control after a military offensive that
shut down an antigovernment protest camp. Hardliners set fire to a TV
station, the stock exchange building and a shopping mall.

Government spokesman Panitan Wattanayagorn urged all Bangkok residents and visitors to stay inside as the city goes under its first curfew in 15 years.

Panitan said looters and arsonists were at work and ordered them to stop or face decisive action.

He also said the government had ordered special TV programming on all free-to-air channels, so that authorities could give information about the development of the security operation.
