Associated Press | The Illinois Department of Revenue says online filing of individual tax returns has jumped 2 percent over last year. That translates into about nearly 2 million tax returns filed so far this year.

State officials have pushed for electronic filing, saying it reduces
the amount of paper and gets taxpayers their refunds quicker.

The Department of Revenue says taxpayers can file online free at www.tax.illinois.gov.

The deadline to file taxes is April 15.
