By Wailin Wong | Facebook was the most searched-for brand in the
U.S. in the last week, outranking other marquee names such as Google,
Craigslist and Amazon, according to new data from research firm Hitwise.

In the week ended March 27,
Facebook captured 2.8 percent of all
searches in the U.S., Hitwise said. Google was second at 2.4 percent,
followed by Yahoo! at 1.6 percent. Craigslist accounted for 1.1 percent
of searches and Amazon had 0.1 percent.

Hitwise’s data reflects a new measurement that the firm called “breadth
volume,” which reflects not only the volume of searches for a
particular term, but the number of variations on that “root” term. In
the last week, Hitwise counted 10.673 unique terms containing the root
“Facebook.”
