Make sense. Somehow the word Roundy’s gives a wrong image for a grocery store
Glad to see an established chain enter the market that has the openness and foresight to research the market they’re trying to break into prior to launching and adapt accordingly.
Robert Mariano was with Dominick’s for many years as CEO and a number of the Roundy’s corporate folks live in northern Illinois. Last I heard, Dominick’s market share was around 30%. From a transportation logistics point a view, Arlington Heights shouldn’t be to bad for time spent on the interstate from wherever Roundy’s distribution center is in SE Wisconsin.
Actually, this was first reported on CBS channel 2 before 6 am this morning. Mariano made the announcement in person on the air.
