Estimated 120K iPads sold on first day

From Fast Company | Though Apple isn’t releasing figures, CNN’s sampling of iPad and other Apple product purchasers suggested that more  than 120,000 iPads were ordered Friday, the day pre-ordering began. It’s considered a strong showing for a product getting a mixed reception.

    It’s remarkable how you can bank on seeing snotty, uninformed, and often resentfully angry comments on any story. This could have been a story on how the sun rose this morning and “joe” would have written some semi-literate crack.
    I really wonder what value such discussion boards have for newspapers. It’s certainly not to amend or expand the stories. It must be the “stickiness” for ad page views.

    People come on the message boards because it offers some sort of entertainment for a lot of people. Also, sometimes you can gain incite from some locals who have their own opinion. But discussion boards are dollars for the papers. Yahoo finally started doing message boards on their news site, and i think their format is a lot better. It lets you directly reply to a comment that someone posted.
