Toyota Camry loses top-seller crown

From Motortrend: One of the biggest casualties of Toyota’s recall disaster was the midsize Camry, its perennial longtime top-seller. Camry sales fell 24 percent in January, due in part to the fact that dealers didn’t sell them the last six days of the month, falling behind rival Honda Accord — and also the Nissan Altima and Chevrolet Malibu.

    Repetitive Toyota recalls will be causing considerable harm to their brand equity. 2.3 million vehicles in the US to correct sticking accelerator pedals. over 4 million vehicles in the US to correct pedals getting lodged under floor mats. nearly 700,000 motorcars in China due to defective electrical window switches. Toyota ceo on TV to apologise for recall and still the mass media highlight problems as the company gets more jumpy. I wonder how much brand value this has cost them.
