The Cliq XT is the company’s eighth phone powered by Google’s Android
operating software, which Motorola is planning to use in nearly 20 new
device launches this year.

Last year, Motorola released the Cliq at
T-Mobile. The Cliq has a slide-out physical keyboard. In contrast, the
new Cliq XT has only a virtual keyboard.

The Cliq XT features Motoblur, Motorola’s Web-based service that
streams content such as social networking updates to phones in
realtime. The company is pushing Motoblur as a key feature that will
make its Android phones stand out from other devices that also use the
Google platform. Motorola recently touted Motoblur in a Super Bowl ad
starring actress Megan Fox.

Motorola announced the new phone in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress, an industry event for the mobile phone industry.
