| By Bob Goldsborough | Former Chicago Bears and current Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson is selling his two-story, 12-room house in Libertyville for $899,000.
The Bears released Benson, 27, in June 2008 after his second alcohol-related arrest in just over a month. He later was cleared of all charges and signed with Cincinnati in September 2008. Benson, who signed a five-year, $35 million contract with the Bears in August 2005, paid $1.02 million that same month for the house. |

He first listed the traditional-style house in Libertyville in September for $935,000, and later cut its asking price to $899,000.
Over the last two years, Benson completely updated the four-bedroom home. Built in 1997, the house has 3 1/2 baths, two fireplaces, formal dining and living rooms, a two-story great room, updated baths, gabled ceilings, high-profile moldings, a loft and balcony off the master bedroom, and a kitchen with custom cabinetry, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and a glass tile backsplash. The 1.5-acre property is wooded and fenced.
Benson also owns a 4,273-square-foot house on a 1.21-acre parcel in Austin, Texas, that he purchased in 2007 for an undisclosed price, along with a 2,182-square-foot town house in Austin that he bought in 2005 for an undisclosed price.
Benson is one of a scant few current or former Bears to own in Libertyville. Bears free safety Danieal Manning is another notable owner, having paid $535,000 in 2007 for his 3,804-square-foot house in Libertyville.

Well, boohoo for Cedric (hate to see a guy that plays football lose money – NOT) but I am surprised to see that a pro athlete would purchase in Libertyville. Don’t they usually want the city or much more uppity suburbs?

I just got out of a closing where the seller had to bring a check to the table instead of getting one himself.

He can probably afford to lose some money on his home in comparisons to the thousands of others who can’t and will forever feel the loss.
With his added bonuses, commercials and the fact that he is now playing for a much better coached team. A team with a much better and brighter ownership, a team with a much smarter General Manager, I would have to say that Cedric really didn’t lose much at all. In fact I’m sure he is using most of this supposed loss and a tax write off.
I would also think that Cedric and his Realtor listed a bit high and did OK with the final offer and sale. My question is how you really feel that this is newsworthy when many Americans are losing their homes due to foreclosures because banks won’t modify loans?
Do a story on how does a couple modify a loan to save their home when they have no job and no work to be found? Where are these people to go? Who will put them up? Federal government and State government going to start dishing out money for that now? We need to stop the bleeding and more on the target stories might help with that.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
