Dow Jones Newswires | Boeing Co. may reclaim top spot from rival
Airbus as the top civil airplane maker by 2014 once its 787 Dreamliner
begins deliveries, the Financial Times reported late Thursday, citing
an interview with the company’s commercial aircraft division head Jim
Albaugh.

“As we start delivering the 787 on top of the already pretty robust 737 and 777 lines … you’re going to see the number of deliveries we have in 2013 and 2014 go up significantly from where they are today,” Albaugh said, according to the FT.

“We might deliver a few more airplanes than them [Airbus] in that time frame,” the FT quoted him as saying.

Boeing lost top spot to Europe’s Airbus in 2003.
